I have just started a craft group with someone from my neighborhood and it was completely by chance. Her husband works on my floor in the university in a lab across the hall. One day he stopped me and said, "I heard that you are into crafts." I said, "into is an understatement" and proceeded to send him links to my shop and blog.

Convinced of my craftiness (and shocked at my online presence), he passed on my info to his wife, Rinat. Rinat was a crafter on the hunt for crafting counterparts. She also happens to live a block and a half away from me.
With that, our ladies craft night was born.
For our first craft night activity, we made yoyo necklaces (click for a good tutorial and another). I brought the materials and led the session. Rinat hosted and took care of refreshments (included tasty granola cookies). We chatted, drank coffee, and of course made fabulous necklaces. I wish I had pictures of everyone's and not just my own. They all came out so different and lovely!

When we ended the meeting, it was with excitement for future gatherings and the feeling of satisfaction that comes from creating something beautiful with your own two hands.
Do you host or attend a craft night? I would love to hear about it!
