March: my birthday month

Last year after a quiet 23 I decided that in a year I would throw myself a 24th birthday party. It would put an end to birthday expectations and I would get everything exactly as I wanted. I have recently come to terms with the fact that although I seem easygoing, I really am too much of a control freak to enjoy surprizes - I always have the nagging feeling that whatever it is I could have planned it better. So, I chose a pretty restaurant (Dallal) in this artsy district of Tel Aviv and invited 11 close friends. We had a whole room to ourselves and the food was great. We were a small enough group to fit around a table but still a nice mix of old and new.

The trouble with a sit down party is getting a chance to speak to the people who aren't sitting immediately next to you but somehow I felt that I had the oportunity to celebrate with everyone. I drank and told stories and made my way around the table. By the end of the night I was feeling dizzy but in a good surrounded-by-people-I-love sort of way
And who doesn't love presents? Giora's sister brought me the prettiest headband and my good friend Maya (the same one who organized my workroom last spring) bought me all of the fimo supplies that I have had my eye on for months. Because we do crafts together she knew exactly what I have and what I don't and it was just so thoughtful. My new friend Yoel brought a buddy of his and delicious chocolates.Giora and his sister:
I am dying to find the time to start experimenting with my new supplies!

The real day of my birthday I had to work but I got a poem and lots of flowers from Giora so it was really lovely in it's own intimate way.

And now back to real life...

  1. whoever took those pictures is really talented. They look so perfect-like stock photography. Are you learning about quantum theory? Because I am so into that right now( I don't understand it or anything-but it fascinates me) maybe I can send you my questions when they come up as I read-it's amazing.

  2. Thanks - that would mainly be my husband, Giora. We learned a little quantum theory in our undergrad. You are welcome to send questions- we will do our best to answer. Have you read Stephen Hawking's book "A brief History of Time"?
